Melissa Oneil

MelissaMelissa Crystal O'Neil (born July 12, 1988[1]) is a Canadian performer and actress. O'Neil was the first Canadian woman to win Canadian Idol's third season in 2005. She is an actress and is most well-known for her role as Two and Rebecca as Two / Rebecca / Portia Lin on the Syfy science fiction series Dark Matter and as Officer Lucy Chen on the ABC police procedural drama series The Rookie.Although she was praised highly by the judges, she had a huge setback in both the Top 10 and Top 9 weeks of the finals, because she was in the bottom three and bottom two, respectively. Disappointed, the judges encouraged viewers to vote for contestants such as Melissa who had the best vocal abilities. O'Neil's performances were always praised and O'Neil didn't fall back into the bottom three. Zack Werner, the judge, declared O'Neil "a potential winner the entire competition". O'Neil, along with Rex Goudie, made it into the finals on September 7 in 2005. Werner, a judge famously said that the headlines for the following day's news will be "The King [Kalan Porter] has passed away. Long live the Queen." At the grand finale's results presentation on September 14, 2005, O'Neil defeated Goudie to be named the third Canadian Idol, as well as being the first female winner, as well as (at 17) the youngest winner of the show's history.
